Welcome to Grief Balm - a duet of wonder and grief
Over the last ten years, I’ve been exploring the lost art of grief tending; a practice of welcoming and honouring grief as a gateway to more connection, enchantment, and love.
From sitting with hundreds of people in their loss and longing, I have found that when we are willing to turn our face towards the winds of sorrow, we rekindle and remember our intimacy with life.
We are in turbulent times, both individually and collectively. We are also in a time of great potential, a time for reconnecting, restoring, and returning. Reclaiming grief will be essential for navigating ecological change and humanitarian crises, alongside our own individual healing.
These letters are a collection of essays, rituals and poems to bring you in depth writing on the topics and teachings that have changed and moved me. This will be a place to explore ongoing conversations about life and loss that are both nourishing and needed.
Together, we can remember the lost art of grief tending within and without. A way of being and relating in community, ceremony and song that was once deep in our bones.
I always love hearing from you so do get in touch if something has particularly resonated or if you have a question that’s on your heart. You are always welcome to share these letters with your friends and loved ones.
Slowly the embers are reigniting.

For those who join this community as a paid subscriber, I truly wish to take this moment to say thank you. It isn’t always easy to earn a living offering grief tending. I do it because it is my heart’s path and because it is so very needed. Your contributions to this newsletter go a long way in helping this work to be sustainable. So thank you, sincerely and with love, Nici.
